Spiders are small animals with eight legs. They are not insects because insects only have six legs! Most spiders can make silk that comes out of their body. They use this silk to spin sticky webs that catch flies and other bugs for dinner.
Spiders live almost everywhere on Earth. Some spiders are tiny and some can be as big as a dinner plate. Most spiders are harmless and are actually very helpful because they eat pesky bugs like mosquitoes. Many spiders have eight eyes, but some have fewer.
