Papier-Mache

Papier-mâché is a way to make art using paper and paste. The name comes from French words that mean “chewed paper.” You tear newspaper into strips, dip them in a gooey paste, and stick them onto a shape. When the paper dries, it gets hard like a shell!

People have been making papier-mâché for hundreds of years. Kids love it because it is messy and fun. You can make almost anything, from masks to animals to volcanoes!
