Buzz Aldrin is a brave astronaut who was born on January 20, 1930, and he is still alive today! He is most famous for being the second person ever to walk on the Moon during the Apollo 11 mission. When he stepped out of his spaceship, he looked around at the craters and rocks and called it magnificent desolation! He helped plant the American flag on the moon’s surface for everyone to see.
Before flying to the moon, Buzz was a pilot in the Air Force and flew many important missions! He also went to a big school called MIT where he learned how spaceships can safely find each other in outer space. Today, he writes books and talks to kids, encouraging them to dream big about traveling to Mars and beyond!
