Peggy Whitson is an incredible astronaut who was born on February 9, 1960! She loves being in space so much that she has lived there for a total of 675 days! That is more time spent in space than any other American astronaut. She lived on the big International Space Station, doing fun science experiments and looking down at our beautiful blue planet!
Peggy is a fantastic leader and became the very first woman to command the space station! She has also put on a big, puffy spacesuit and gone outside for ten different spacewalks to fix parts of the spaceship. Growing up on a farm taught her how to work hard and solve problems, making her one of the best space explorers ever!
