Valentina Tereshkova is an amazing explorer who was born on March 6, 1937! She made history by becoming the very first woman to ever travel to space! She flew in a spaceship called Vostok 6 and zoomed around the Earth 48 times over three whole days. She showed girls everywhere that they could reach for the stars and become heroes too!
Before going to space, Valentina worked in a factory and loved jumping out of airplanes with a parachute! Because she was so brave and good at skydiving, she was chosen to train as a cosmonaut. When it was time to come back to Earth, she had to jump out of her spaceship and parachute safely to the ground! She is a true pioneer of the sky!
