Ibtihaj Muhammad is an amazing athlete who competes in a sport called fencing! She started fencing when she was 13 years old because it was a sport where she could wear her hijab, which is a beautiful head covering for her Muslim faith. She practiced very hard and became so good that she went to the Olympics in 2016!
At the Olympics, Ibtihaj made history! She was the first American to ever compete wearing a hijab, and she won a bronze medal with her team. She is so inspiring because she showed everyone that you can follow your dreams and be yourself at the very same time!
