Jackie Robinson is a famous baseball player and a true American hero! He loved playing sports and was great at football, basketball, track, and baseball. In 1947, he did something incredibly brave by becoming the first African American to play Major League Baseball.
Before Jackie, Black players and white players were not allowed to play on the same teams. It was very hard at first, but Jackie was so strong and played so well that he helped change the rules forever! Today, everyone celebrates Jackie Robinson for making baseball a game for everyone to enjoy!
