In 1952, Virginia invented something wonderful called the Apgar score! This is a simple test that doctors still use today, checking things like how a baby is breathing, their heart rate, and their reflexes just one minute after they are born! Thanks to her amazing idea, doctors all over the world can quickly give babies the special care they need, saving so many little lives!
