Long ago, people did not have fast cars or big airplanes to get around. Instead, they often walked many miles or rode on friendly horses. Many families used wooden buggies and wagons pulled by horses to travel into town. It took a long time to get where they were going, but they could see all the beautiful trees and flowers along the way!
Trains were also very different a long time ago. They were called steam engines, and they made loud ‘choo-choo’ sounds! These trains used big puffs of white smoke to move quickly down the tracks. People also traveled on big sailing ships with white sails that caught the wind to move across the blue ocean. Everyone was so excited to see the big train or ship arrive!
