Memorial Day is a very special day to say “thank you” to the brave heroes who helped keep our country safe. We celebrate this holiday on the last Monday in May. On this day, we remember the men and women who served in the military and worked very hard for us. Many people fly the American flag and wear pretty red flowers called poppies to show they remember!
Many towns have big parades with loud music and happy marching! Families like to get together for picnics and eat yummy food like hot dogs and corn. At three o’clock in the afternoon, many people stop and stay very quiet for one minute. This is a special time to think kind thoughts and be grateful for our heroes. Memorial Day is a wonderful time to celebrate being together and being free!
