Rivers Lakes and Streams

Rivers are like watery roads that flow across the land. They carry fresh water from high mountains all the way to the big, blue ocean! Streams are like little brothers to rivers. They are smaller and splash over rocks as they travel through forests and meadows.

A lake is a big body of water with land all around it. It looks like a giant, sparkling mirror! Many animals make their homes near lakes, rivers, and streams. You might see a happy duck splashing in the water or a slow turtle resting on a sunny log.
