Mae Jemison was the first African American woman to travel into space! She was a scientist and a doctor who was chosen for the NASA astronaut training program in 1987.
Jemison’s mission on the Space Shuttle Endeavour in 1992 was a giant success! She performed many experiments and studies in space and was a true pioneer for women and people of color.
