The solar system is a big neighborhood in space. In the center is our sun, a giant ball of hot, glowing light. Everything else in our solar system goes around the sun. This includes eight big planets, many smaller dwarf planets, and lots of moons.
The solar system also has asteroids, which are like big rocks, and comets, which are like dirty snowballs. All these things stay together because the sun is so big that it pulls on them. It’s like a giant cosmic family that is always moving through space!
